Google Analytics shows DotNetKicks and Twitter effectiveness: blog traffic spike (~450) within one day!

Checked Google Analytics this morning for this blog. I presume all readers know this free service: if you have webmaster access to a domain, you can place javascript google tracking code and they'll provide you with a bunch of reports.

Image my (pleasant) suprise when my unique pageview were suddenly up by ~450! (Bezoeken = Dutch for 'visits'). As you can see, the blog isn't that old yet. :)

For many of you no big deal - for me, fun!

I've been following the advice/tasks from the 31-DBBB for a bit now. Nothing too unexpected there, but solid advice and a motivator to keep doing stuff to improve the blog traffic. Based on what I saw there I decided to do something that is availble out of the box for blogengine.net: DotNetKicks. I put the 5 Blogs every ASP.NET programmer should know post there. Analysis shows: 293 visitors from DotNetKicks (thank you very much, every one), and 110 + from ow.ly (a url-shortener service), which tracks back to the tweeting of a prolific tweetaholic.

Analysis of feedburner shows that I've picked up 16 subscribers in that spike. But these may all be bots. :)

So, thanks, everyone. I really was optimistic that that blog post would be useful and it's rewarding to see that people agree!
